2012 Weight Loss Challenge

March 12th - May 21st



KICK-OFF:
I. KICK-OFF Monday, March 12th, 8pm - KICK-OFF SESSION

  • Weigh-in
  • Training diet and start of food log
  • Goal setting
  • Assign trainer and set training schedule

PART I:
II. FIVE WEEK BOOT CAMP, March 12th - April 16th

  • Two training sessions per week with trainer
  • One more training session at home or at your gym without your trainer
  • Abs five days per week
  • Cardio of your choice three to four times a week (20-40 min)
  • Keep logbook, counting calories and protein grams

PART II:
III. MID-POINT WEIGH-IN, Monday, April 16th, 8pm

  • Group weigh-in, goal setting and kick-off for next ten weeks
  • PRIZES! Prizes from PowerSource and from co-sponsors

IV. FIVE WEEKS BOOT CAMP, April 16th - May 21st

  • Two training session per week with trainer
  • Two or three sessions on your own
  • Abs and cardio continue
  • Food log check each session

V. FINAL WEIGH-IN, Monday, May 21st, 8pm

  • PRIZES! Award ceremony, BIG WINNER ANNOUNCED - big prizes
  • Goal setting for independence and on-going healthy lifestyle

AWARDS

  • Prizes to greatest % weight loss after week five - from PowerSource
  • Prizes to greatest % weight loss at final weigh-in - from PowerSource

 

PARTICIPANT REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have 15 or more pounds to lose
  • Must have ok from doctor to participate and sign waiver
  • Must commit to purchase two groups of ten training sessions at the discounted price ($45/co-pay session, $65/private session) plus one-time materials fee
    • One-on-one with trainer for twice a week for ten weeks
  • Must agree to attend all sessions and keep training and diet logbook daily and do all assigned workouts
  • Must attend all free sessions
  • Must pre-register for the challenge BEFORE the kick-off,  March 12th, 2011

Winners of the January Weight Loss Challenge!


We are proud to announce the winners of our January 2009 Weight Loss Challenge! Michelle (left) took second place with a weight loss of 32 lbs. She went from a size 16 to a size 10/12. Jodie (right), took first place and lost 32 lbs. She went from a size 14 to a size 6/8. Congratulations to both!

Winners of the January Weight Loss Challenge!

We are proud to announce the winners of our January 2010 Weight Loss Challenge! Carla G. (left) took first place with a weight loss of 37.5 lbs. Carole Jean (picture pending) took second place with 23 lbs lost.  Carla P. (right), took third place and lost 16.5 lbs. Congratulations to all three!

Theresa lost 100 pounds in 9 months!

Theresa is our PowerSource hero for 2008. She is 29 years old and works as a Deputy City Clerk.

Theresa trained twice a week for the first five weeks with her PowerSource trainer, and her training partner Cindy, a fellow Weight Loss Challenge participant. She lost 15 lbs. in the first five weeks and has never looked back. In October of 2008, Theresa was down to 227 lbs. (103 lbs. of weight lost) and is still going for another 80 lbs.

Training tip from Theresa - Find a good, reliable workout partner. Be consistent with the training diet. Have fun and put variety in your workouts.

Elise lost 52 lbs in 7 1/2 months!

Elise, 37, single mom, came to PowerSource in January to sign up for the weight loss challenge. She had tried for a year to lose weight and couldn't. She joined Curves and tried other things with no success.

In mid January she weighed in with 22 others and began lifting weights for the 1st time in her life. Elise started the challenge at 232lbs and a size 18. In only 5 weeks she won 2nd place losing 17lbs. By the end of the 1st challenge on May 12th, Elise took 2nd place overall with a total loss of 32lbs.

Elise immediately signed up for the 2nd Weight Loss Challenge. She took 1st place in Weight Loss Challenge #2. From January 27th to August 25th (only 71/2 months) she lost 52lbs and she's still getting stronger.

Now Elise is down from a size 18 to 8-10. She is able to do more activities with her son because she has a lot more energy. She feels better about how she looks but her goal is still to lose another 20 to 30lbs.

Elise wore a skirt that she hadn't worn in 7 years and felt great! She feels that she can live a healthier life on her own and will never go back to the bad eating habits.

Training tip from Elise - "Get your protein in the morning, take your training one meal at a time, and let yourself relieve cravings in a controlled way."


Join PowerSource Personal Training of Edina in a 10-week weight-loss challenge. The event, for people looking to lose 15 pounds or more, includes a training diet, log book, one-on-one training sessions with a personal trainer, as well as aerobic and weight-training routines. Previous winners have lost between 30 and 45 pounds in our 15 week Challenges.

If you missed the kick-off for the Weight Loss Challenge for January or May, you can sign up for your own Weight Loss Challenge individually or with your own group. Call Judy about this 15 week program and she will be happy to work with you. We will be kicking off our next official Weight Loss Challenge on January 16th, 2012.
