Four years ago Kathy, age 52, and her husband of 29 years were riding their motorcycle when they were struck from the side by a car. Kathy’s right side was crushed and she went through 17 surgeries in the next two-and-a-half years. She has a metal rod to replace her right femur and her right ankle is fused. She also has countless pins in her right arm.
After she completed her surgeries and finished her physical therapy, Kathy came to PowerSource. She wanted to strengthen her injured leg and ankle to develop overall strength. After PowerSource training, Kathy says her ankle is a lot stronger, as are her legs and abs. Her balance and overall body tone is much improved. Kathy also adds that before training at PowerSource she had two different braces that she wore on her leg when she walked. Now both braces are in the closet, no longer needed!
Timberly, 35, is the Director of
Client Services of the Lupus Foundation. She has had over 100 surgeries (Lupus related injuries, Kidney failure, and a knee
replacement). She also was diagnosed with high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol and
weighed over 450 pounds after having a kidney replacement in 1998. That was her turning point.
Now for the first time, even though she had a knee replacement and a torn ACL, she is able to go up
the stairs without holding on the rails. Timberly has gone down two pant sizes, her skin is a lot tighter,
her balance has improved and her cholesterol has gone down 8 points. Best of all Timberly feels very
empowered.
Marlene, 72, had a hip replacement surgery that went wrong and left her with a crushed
sciatic nerve. After only five sessions training at PowerSource, Marlene is driving again because she has built up the strength and control in her injured leg. She has lost five pounds in only 4 weeks and is working on getting rid of her cane. Marlene feels
a lot better, she says it must be those endorphins released when she does her squats and bench.
Robin, 60, is from Liverpool
and is a retired Research Director for the pharmaceutical industry. Robin is also a grandfather of two. His main goal at PowerSource was to workout to be stronger, particularly in his legs. Robin was feeling like his legs were giving out. Before training, Robin’s knees ached all the time – now that he’s built up the strength in his legs at PowerSource, no more pain!
Mary Anne, 72, came to PowerSource in July of 2007 with a goal of keeping of mobility. After two hip replacements, one in 2000 and the other in 2005, she was left with two metal hips resulting in a loss of balance and fear of falling.
Since starting training with Judy, Mary Anne lost 40 lbs in only two months, built enough strength to do barbell squats with 20 lbs and incline bench press with 20 lbs. Mary Anne’s balance is much improved. Her biggest triumph is being able to climb up on the backhoe that her significant other operates in his building projects. Before training, Mary Anne had to have help getting up the steps of the backhoe so she could ride along.
Sandy, 44, is a Finance Manager. cancer and had a bilateral mastectomy in March, reconstruction surgery in May, and has scheduled for radiation in June. Sandy came back to PowerSource to prepare for two physical challenges, to keep her strength and flexibility through the radiation treatment and to train for the Breast
Cancer Three Day Walk in the middle of August.
The strength training with her trainer helped her sail right through the Three Day Walk and with no injuries or set backs. Sandy also feels her training at PowerSource has helped her have endurance to go home after work and do other things in her life!
